I started with MAD in the beginning by fostering dog #2. What makes MAD different from other organizations is the way they treat their volunteers. We all feel supported and appreciated. The Code of Conduct we sign as volunteers is not just a piece of paper; it’s a clear outline of how each of us volunteers will support and treat each other within the organization. The foster volunteers are at the top of the list. Each dog has an adoption counselor who serves as the advocate for the dog the minute they are pulled from the shelter. They partner with the foster volunteer to help with transport, training, behavioral advice, and medical issues. The adoption counselor reaches out to applicants to find the best match for both the dog and the adopter. This is what makes MAD different and the reason I continue supporting this incredible rescue. Our goal is to not only find the perfect home for each dog, but the perfect dog for each home.
After our beloved Belgian Malinois Truman suddenly passed away in the spring of 2022, we decided to open up our home and hearts for foster dogs - and we have not regretted our decision! It has been an absolute pleasure and honor to foster dogs through MAD. We are so impressed by the professionalism, care and dedication of all of the MAD volunteers and leadership and we have enjoyed caring for and spending time with all of our furry house guests. We feel well equipped to handle any issue or situation related to fostering with the help and support of MAD.

5 Year Old Amari was a stray that was found running at large in Northern California and brought to a shelter after being hit by a car. Her front leg was amputated, and she was slated for euthanasia until MAD Stepped up.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our California Team, Amari was successfully placed in a home after healing from her injuries. MAD Rescue takes on a number of Special-Needs Malinois, such as Amari, every year. We're one of the few rescues that do-in fact, we currently have a number of 3-legged Malinois in rescue in need of adoptive homes!

MAD Rescue was founded in 2020 to rescue Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds and other Belgian breeds. We take in dogs across 49 states who’ve been surrendered, discarded, abused, neglected or impounded. We place them with approved fosters, ensure they’re spayed or neutered and receive other needed care, and learn about their personalities to match them with loving permanent homes. By becoming a foster home, you can help us save a life. See some of the dogs we've saved below.
